Jody L. Padar and I are going to try something new at the Sage Summit in July. We’re going to create an interactive workshop on “Build a Firm in a Weekend.”

Kind of like a startup mentality, but for accounting firms. Sounds like a freakin’ geek-fest, right? But what you don’t understand is that the world of firm management is changing faster than you can throw your banana peel out the window (is that littering if it’s biodegradable?). There are so many ideas you CAN’T have by yourself that you have to get into a room full of other people who aren’t scared to try something new.  We’ll see if we can get a bunch of accountants to try something new during our workshop (so that means partners of firms are NOT allowed – chill, I’m just kidding).

Doing new things in our profession is a no-no, but there are a few stepping out to make change, and I can’t wait to see what comes out of the Build a Firm in a Weekend Session at the Sage Summit!

You going?  Register here, dang it.

I’ll be there, assuming “there” is online as I will not be making the trek to DC.

Kevin, thanks dude! Actually, the course will be a four hour workshop in DC. Sorry : (

But I’ll be releasing some info soon on a 12 week online coaching course that will start in July of this year. It’s going to be deep theory, and will be in a coaching format so all participants can “dawg” out one another for the ultimate growth of the whole group. Only 10 folks can be in the course at one time, there will be reading, some interactive requirements through an innovative online learning portal and a bunch of other stuff. It’s going to be so freakin’ cool! Interested? Make sure you sign up for the THRIVEal email list here so we can notify you when that info is live: http://thriveal.com/2010/09/18/omg-sign-up-for-the-thrivealcpa-network-email-list-here/ Can’t wait.
