A little bit about Greg

Greg was born in Akron, Ohio, in the shadow of the Firestone tire factory. He began swimming competitively when he was eight for the Mountlake Terrace Lemmings. He graduated in 1995 from the University of Washington with a math degree. He chose math for the ladies.

After serving ten-years as an 8th grade math teacher, he decided it was time for a career change mainly because he “couldn’t stand those little bastards.” He began his accounting career with a local CPA firm in Orem, Utah, where he consistently failed the QuickBooks ProAdvisor advanced certification exam.

Greg is the co-host of a monthly podcast that you’ve never heard of. He is a regular blogger for both Going Concern and the THRIVEal CPA Network. In 2011 he was awarded the “G. Robert Newhart Non-Value Added Fellowship” of the VeraSage Institute. Accounting Today recognized him as “one to watch” in its 2012 list of the Top 100 Most Influential people in the accounting profession. He didn’t make the list; he made a sidebar to the list.

Over the past ten years, Greg has established himself as a unique voice in the world of stand up comedy. He has shared the stage with Rob Schneider, Finesse Mitchell and Weird Al Yankovic and was a finalist in the 2011 Laughing Skull Comedy Festival.

Greg currently works as the controller for the Utah Valley Physicians Plaza. He lives in Provo, Utah, with his wife and two kids. He enjoys skipping church, drinking coffee, and swearing.
