Jody L. Padar and I are going to try something new at the Sage Summit in July. We’re going to create an interactive workshop on “Build a Firm in a Weekend.”
Kind of like a startup mentality, but for accounting firms. Sounds like a freakin’ geek-fest, right? But what you don’t understand is that the world of firm management is changing faster than you can throw your banana peel out the window (is that littering if it’s biodegradable?). There are so many ideas you CAN’T have by yourself that you have to get into a room full of other people who aren’t scared to try something new. We’ll see if we can get a bunch of accountants to try something new during our workshop (so that means partners of firms are NOT allowed – chill, I’m just kidding).
Doing new things in our profession is a no-no, but there are a few stepping out to make change, and I can’t wait to see what comes out of the Build a Firm in a Weekend Session at the Sage Summit!
You going? Register here, dang it.

Technology choices are such an integral part of your business ecosystem. It’s like the foundation that wraps around the process by which you get business done. Most clients of accounting firms choose technology with very limited views towards what that technology will do. In choosing technology, keep a broad view of what your ecosystem looks like so you can choose collaborative systems that work together to meet the needs of your business process.
